The Savannah Bancorp Announces Acquisition of Minis & Co., Inc., an Investment Advisory Firm in Savannah


SAVANNAH, Ga., Aug. 23, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Savannah Bancorp, Inc. (Nasdaq:SAVB) announced today that it has agreed to acquire the net assets of Minis & Co., Inc. ("Minis"). Founded in 1932, Minis is a registered investment advisory firm based in Savannah, Georgia. Minis is privately held and had approximately $500 million in assets under management at June 30, 2007. The transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings in 2007 and is expected to close during the third quarter. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.

Minis provides fee-only investment services to individuals, families, employee benefit plans, non-profit organizations and other entities. It will operate as a separate subsidiary under the name of Minis & Co., Inc. with all existing management and staff at its current location.
