Sierra Gold Corporation Awaits More Gold Assay Results From Hard Rock Formation

TORONTO, Aug. 27, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Sierra Gold Corporation (Pink Sheets:SGCP) deposited more hard rock gold samples with SGS Laboratories in Toronto, Canada at the end of July from recent geological work done in Sierra Leone. Assay results are expected shortly. The samples collected were taken from a hard rock formation that showed visible gold.

In April 2007, hard rock chip samples were taken from the property and tested by SGS Laboratories. Assay results for gold were approximately .5 oz/ton (15 grams/ton).

Sierra Gold's geological team will continue to investigate and further explore the hard rock formation. A trenching program has already been initiated. The company has plans for a later drilling program.

Sierra Gold is engaged in the exploration and development of gold and diamond properties in West Africa. The greenstone belt of West Africa has had a long history of gold mining and prospecting. The region has been one of the fastest gold producing areas worldwide. Sierra Leone's neighbors, Ghana and Mali, are the second and third largest gold producers in all of Africa.
