Julie Brand Leaves Katten to Make a 'Brand' in Liner Yankelevitz's Corporate Department

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Julia W. Brand, formerly a Partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, will join Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif LLP's Los Angeles office as Partner on September 4, 2007.

As LYS&R continues to expand, it has acquired reinforcements for its rapidly growing Corporate Department. Partners Joshua Grode and Bertha Willner are managing so many deals now that they need additional help to satisfy the needs of their clients. Julie's knowledge, sophistication and experience will add both depth and breadth to LYS&R's corporate practice.

"Julie brings the flexibility and savviness we're looking for as we expand our corporate department because she has so much experience working on complex deals in a wide range of industries and contexts," said Stuart Liner, LYS&R's managing partner.

Julie represents clients in a variety of complex business transactions, including intellectual property license agreements, asset purchase transactions and joint venture transactions. She has negotiated and documented loan transactions on behalf of both borrowers and lenders and has participated in merger transactions.

With more than 22 years of legal experience, Julie also has substantial experience handling complex litigation, including bankruptcy, commercial lending, contract, manufacturing, intellectual property, real estate and fraud disputes. She has also provided advice to clients regarding enforcement of rights in commercial lending transactions, including foreclosures, litigation remedies and receiverships.

During Julie's 16 years at Katten, her practice was focused in the areas of corporate reorganizations, bankruptcy and lending transactions. "Liner's sophisticated corporate practice, with its emphasis on finance transactions in the entertainment industry, attracted me to the firm," Julie said. "My experience in both the lending and bankruptcy arena will enable me to make a significant contribution to the firm's corporate practice. The firm provides me with a unique opportunity to expand my practice in this area of the law and I'm very excited about joining Liner."

Julie received her J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1985 and her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1981.

Recently, the Los Angeles office of LYS&R also welcomed attorneys Camilla Y. Chan, Robert Rabbat, Susan Swingle, Melissa S. Mac Pherson and Tony M. Sain.
