IT - GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange - Implementation update (40/07)

The Nordic Exchange roadmap for GENIUM, the new exchange technologies from OMX, is focused on improving speed, availability and agility. Deliveries start with GENIUM FIX, based on the FIX (Financial Information eXchange) and FAST (FIX Adapted for Streaming) protocols, providing standardized access to trading and market data in the current trading environment. Thereafter the Nordic Exchange will migrate cash and derivatives trading to a GENIUM based solution.

Here is an update on the time plan and implementation of GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange:

In October OMX will publish a complete draft version of GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange – FIX Specification, version 2.0 including a separate FAST specification.

On November 12, 2007 OMX will introduce a low latency market data service for equities and related instruments based on GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange. The interface will be based on the previously published FIX and FAST specifications (versions 1.0.5 and 1.0.2 respectively).

In the next step GENIUM FIX for OMX Nordic Exchange will be made available for broad member testing and then introduced as a trading interface to the current environment (SAXESS and CLICK). The current interfaces (XTP and OMnet) will remain in use during a transition period.

The time plans for GENIUM FIX for equity and derivatives trading are independent of each other and are currently being finalized. In this process it has been decided that GENIUM FIX for equity trading will not be part of the SAXESS 5.0.0 release in May 2008. The finalized time plans for this step will be communicated in October 2007.
