ACME Portable Machines Inc. Takes Computer Forensics Into the Field with Powerful Portable

Runs Three Investigations Simultaneously

AZUSA, Calif., Sept. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The art and science of computer forensics -- capturing images from "erased" drives, reconstructing files, etc. -- doesn't always happen in a "CSI" laboratory. Sometimes it has to happen at the site where the computer or workstation being investigated is located. ACME Portable Machines, Inc. today announced a lunchbox-style portable workstation capable of capturing evidence from off-site SCSI, IDE and SATA drives -- three at a time.

A downloadable 300dpi high-resolution image of ACME's AFS-370 is available at http://www.seeyouinprint.com/acme/afs-370.jpg

A 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 processor backed by 2GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB) gives the new AFS-370 the power of a workstation in portable form. Gigabyte Ethernet, USB 2.0 and Firewire (IEEE 1394B PCI) are incorporated to speed communications, and a 17-inch LCD displays status and results.

Triple independently operating write-blocked Tableau bridges allow for inspecting three subject drives at once. Users are given the option of choosing SCSI, IDE or SATA interfaces. Data and image capture is output to triple 500GB hot-swappable SATA drives. The system also includes a fixed 120GB drive, a slim DVD-RW drive, and a MediaBlock card reader for smart cards (including CompactFlash I and II, IBM Microdrive, Memory Stick, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, and Smart Media cards).

An extra PCI card slot allows for adding to the system, if it doesn't have enough already.

Price and Availability

The AFS-370 is priced at $6,890 including one of each type of bridge plus all of the features mentioned. Deliveries take four weeks.
