Snyder Appointed Executive Vice President of Sysco Food Services of Knoxville, LLC


HOUSTON, Sept. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that David L. Snyder has been named executive vice president of Sysco Food Services of Knoxville, LLC a new subsidiary operation that is expected to open in late spring of 2008 in Knoxville, TN.

Mr. Snyder, 57, joined SYSCO as director of management information services at Robert Orr-Sysco in Nashville in 1977. He transferred to the SYSCO procurement group in Kansas City, MO as director of management information services in 1984, and in 1986 he rejoined the Nashville subsidiary as vice president of operations. In 1992 he transferred to the corporate headquarters in Houston as senior director of distribution systems, then advanced to assistant vice president, distribution services in 1995. He returned to the Nashville operation as executive vice president in 1997.

In March of 2006, Mr. Snyder moved to the corporate office to assume the role of group president with responsibility for the supply chain area in SYSCO's long-term strategic development process. The strategic development initiative has been focused on seven key areas that will serve as the foundation for SYSCO's efforts to ensure a sustainable future and accelerate its rate of growth and entry into other marketplaces. The Supply Chain Group has been developing processes and procedures to further expand SYSCO's capabilities to move products more quickly and economically throughout the supply chain. The company is now moving from initiative to implementation and imbedding the initiatives into its core operations.

Mr. Snyder, who is a native of Nashville, earned an associate degree in business data processing from Nashville State Technical Institute. He and his wife Vanessa will be relocating to the Knoxville area in the near future. They have three grown children who live in Knoxville and Nashville, TN and Austin, TX.
