City of Fort Lauderdale to Offer City Card for Parking and Retail Purchases

Fort Lauderdale Becomes First City in Florida to Adopt Parcxmart Technologies' Regional and Multi-Functional City Card Payment System

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Parcxmart Technologies, an electronics payment company, today announced that the City of Fort Lauderdale will integrate the Parcxmart parking and local merchant city card payment system throughout the entire city. This award comes after a lengthy search by Fort Lauderdale for the right universal city card solution for parking and retail transactions. The Parcxmart payment system will provide a cashless option for on- and off-street parking payment, as well as retail purchases at participating merchants.

The Parcxmart(tm) Card and patent-pending payment solution is America's first fully functional parking and local merchant smart card payment system. The card uses smart card technology, offering a convenient one-card alternative to coins and cash for small dollar transactions.

Fort Lauderdale will incorporate the Parcxmart payment system into a number of city-run garages and its 2,500 downtown single-space parking meters, which will be supplied by POM, a leading manufacturer of parking meter systems, as well as another 156 meters in the city. Heartland Payment Systems, a leader in the payments processing industry that delivers credit/debit/prepaid card processing, payroll and payment solutions to more than 150,000 small and mid-sized businesses nationwide, will support the retailers and restaurants that offer Parcxmart cards to their customers.

"What appeals to us about the Parcxmart Card is that it has the potential to be regional in its reach, and for people who live and work around Fort Lauderdale that is important," said Diana Alacron, Fort Lauderdale Parking Services Manager. "It is a universal city card that is designed to make parking, shopping and eating convenient and easy. If other cities in our surrounding area adopt the Parcxmart system, then everyone from the region can use his or her Parcxmart card in those cities and at all participating stores and restaurants."

When the Fort Lauderdale Parcxmart Card program becomes fully operational, people coming to and living in Fort Lauderdale will be able to load up to $300 onto a Parcxmart(tm) Card and use it to pay for parking and retail purchases at participating local merchants.

"The benefits of offering multi-functional city cards are that anyone in the region can get and use the card and the city can create unique applications while decreasing operating costs inherent in their parking operations," said John Regan, President and CEO of Parcxmart Technologies. "Merchants benefit because they can generate store traffic and income by selling the cards, reloading value on the cards and accepting them."

Parcxmart's city card payment system is operating in New Haven, CT, Bridgeport, CT, and Truckee, CA.
