Quarterly Dividend Paid by Hampton Roads Bankshares


NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. (Nasdaq:HMPR), the financial holding company for Bank of Hampton Roads, announced that on September 14, 2007, it paid a dividend in the amount of $0.11 per share on its common stock to shareholders of record as of August 15, 2007.

The total dividend paid was $1,132,165. Shareholder support of the company is strong with the majority enrolled in the dividend reinvestment plan. As a result, $571,569 or 50% of the total dividend paid was reinvested into additional shares of stock.

This was the company's 23rd consecutive dividend payment, and the second dividend declared by the board of directors in consideration of the company's 2007 financial performance. The company's next dividend is scheduled to be declared in October with an anticipated pay date of December 14, 2007.
