Listing of the share capital of Straumur-Burðarás Investment Bank hf. in euros,
scheduled for the 20 September this year will be postponed. A joint press
release has been issued by the Icelandic Securities Depository (VSÍ), OMX
Nordic Exchange in Iceland and Straumur-Burðarás Investment Bank hf. on the

STATEMENT CONCERNING THE PROPOSED LISTING OF THE SHARE CAPITAL OF
STRAUMUR-BURÐARÁS INVESTMENT BANK HF. IN EUROS
Preparations have been underway in recent months for the commencement of
trading in shares of Straumur-Burðarás Investment Bank hf. (Straumur) in euros
(EUR). The process has been advertised in the Legal Gazette
(Lögbirtingarblaðið) and daily newspapers. Trading in EUR-denominated shares
was to commence on 20 September this year and electronic registration of the
shares with the Icelandic Securities Depository was scheduled for the morning
of Monday, 24 September. Straumur, the Icelandic Securities Depository, OMX
Nordic Exchange in Iceland and Landsbanki Íslands hf. have been involved in
preparing this action, in consultation with the Financial Supervisory Authority
(FME). Landsbanki would handle the provisional settlement of transactions,
until such time as an agreement had been concluded with the Central Bank of
Finland to assume the role of settlement bank.
On Friday, 14 September, the Icelandic Securities Depository received a letter
from the Central Bank of Iceland, raising objections to the proposed
arrangements for securities settlement in euros. Accordingly, Straumur, the
Icelandic Securities Depository and OMX Exchange in Iceland have jointly
decided to postpone the proposed change until the objections raised with by the
Central Bank in its letter have been duly reviewed.
