20/09/2007 Metsä Tissue to close its converting unit Tissue Canarias S.A. Metsä Tissue will close down its converting unit Tissue Canarias S.A. on the Canary Islands by the end of 2007. "According to its strategy Metsä Tissue is focusing on building strong tissue product brands in the Central, Northern and Eastern European markets. Tissue Canarias no longer supports this target and thus the closing of the unit enables us to better focus on our core operations and markets. We also want to close unnecessary capacity." says Hannu Kottonen, CEO Metsä Tissue. Tissue Canarias S.A. employs 16 people. A provision for closing of operations of EUR 2,5 million has been made.
