MAJOR BRIDGE STRUCTURE DELIVERY FROM RAUTARUUKKI TO SWEDEN

Rautaruukki will supply foundation steel piles and the steel superstructures
for the bridge crossing the Älandsfjärden north of Härnösand in Sweden. The
massive railway bridge will be built by Skanska Sverige AB and will be part of
the Ådalsbanan railway project. The contract is valued at over 5 million euros
and deliveries will take place during 2007 and 2008.

The Älandsfjärden bridge will be 760 metres long and 24 metres high. Delivery
comprises the steel structure for the composite bridge superstructure and large
diameter steel piles fitted with rock shoes. Ruukki's prefabricated structures
enable short construction time and easy on-site installation.

Ruukki is working in close cooperation with Skanska and the bridge designer,
providing its knowledge of structures in order to meet strict railway
regulations. According to Lars Pettersson, Technical Manager, Bridges from
Skanska Sverige, “the type of cooperation with Ruukki in this and several
previous projects enables development of construction- friendly steel
structures, making the on-site work environment safer and installation easier.”

“Ruukki is able to supply an extensive range of bridge and foundation systems
for road and railway construction projects. We have a long and extensive
experience of challenging infrastructure projects in the Nordic countries.
Since the acquisition of the Norwegian company Scanbridge earlier this year, we
are even better equipped for supplying structures, design support and
installation services for large bridge projects,” sums up Sami Eronen, Senior
Vice President, Infrastructure Construction, Ruukki Construction.
