NASDAQ Announces Mid-month Open Short Interest Positions in NASDAQ Stocks as of Settlement Date September 14, 2007


NEW YORK, Sept. 25, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of September 14, 2007, short interest in 2,714 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 8,138,297,370 shares compared with 8,809,420,409 shares in 2,747 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of August 15, 2007. The mid-September short interest represents 4.00 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.54 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 521 securities on The NASDAQ Capital Market(sm) totaled 179,185,927 shares at the end of the settlement date of September 14, 2007, compared with 191,667,395 shares in 526 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.54 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period's figure of 3.51.
