IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 1, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Breaking away from the traditional TV business model, KoldCast TV exploded onto the scene today, launching a teaser site for the first true new media television network, opening up a brand new distribution channel for television and movie production companies, filmmakers and entertainers constrained by an industry seldom open to new faces and innovation. This new entertainment, music, news and sports network will bring a high-res, high-definition, original content and on-demand viewing experience first to the 18-24-year-old audience, later branching out to other demographics/psychographic targets.

Earlier this year, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates predicted that the Internet is set to revolutionize television within five years, due to an explosion of online video content and the merging of PCs and the TV set.

"KoldCast TV is a pioneer and leader in the revolution that Mr. Gates speaks of, that is transforming the TV industry, and the formation and foundation of the New Hollywood is well underway. We plan on playing a major role in the new game," said David S. Samuels, president and CEO of KoldCast TV. "As we saw with the music industry several years ago, this kind of revolution in how the consumer accesses their entertainment content will change the TV industry forever. To the content provider, we are a brand new and appealing distribution channel. To the advertiser, we bring genuine innovation and targeted distribution. To the viewer, we are smoking hot, targeted entertainment."

Original productions, licensed and syndicated programming will come from a variety of sources, including KoldCast Studios, the company's own music and television production arm, and will be conveniently delivered through an action-packed, easy-to-navigate Channel line-up.

Among the programming KoldCast TV will fully roll-out this winter is a new concept the company expects will be of great interest to consumer brands, advertisers and its audience -- Brand Channels.

"A Brand Channel is a brand-dedicated channel containing a variety of entertaining programming produced or otherwise provided by the sponsoring brand," Samuels explains. "We have already signed several exciting brands and are now working with them to ready their programming for our forthcoming launch."

One such Brand Channel is being created for Championship Off Road Racing (CORR(tm)), who will populate their private channel with 3 - 5 minute capsules of their racing events, now televised on NBC and Speed, as well as other CORR-related footage.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be working with our new friends at KoldCast TV to build a CORR Channel," said Deanne Vernengo, TV Media Director. "We anticipate the aggregate number of viewers that will be a part of KoldCast's growing audience to be most impressive. A dedicated channel presence on KoldCast TV will introduce our brand to an entirely new and diverse audience. It's a great concept and a great opportunity for Championship Off Road Racing."

Another major KoldCast TV Channel initiative, beyond the staples, is the CenterStage Channel -- a channel dedicated to undiscovered, up-and-coming and eager entertainers (actors, musicians, comedians, filmmakers, directors, models, etc.) to showcase their work and instantaneously obtain exposure to talent agents, producers and, of course, the entire KoldCast TV viewing audience.

"The opportunity pipeline into old Hollywood has the diameter of a dime," Samuels notes, "but the number of talented artists trying to squeeze into that pipeline is 100 times greater than what can actually be pushed through it. We're opening a new pipeline virtually without limitation."

The company also has plans to deploy a national network of KoldCast "correspondents" who will be generating stories for its forthcoming News Channel. But don't expect KoldCast News to be like any news program you've seen before.

"As the cost of TV/video production and HD cameras plummet, and brilliant software tools like Final Cut allow for quality post-production work, the KoldCast TV model will continue to grow," said Samuels. "A surge of original content, content providers and production companies are looking for a new, professional media distribution network outside of traditional TV. Many have already found KoldCast TV, and many more are about to."

Recognizing the changing face of advertising in new media environments, KoldCast has established its own internal ad agency, KlickOn Creative, which is chartered with the exciting challenge of creating the next generation of advertising methodologies that viewers will find entertaining, relevant and welcome, rather than intrusive and distracting, and that advertisers will find productive and lucrative. The company plans to debut these new advertising methods during its full launch this winter.

In addition to most mobile platforms, KoldCast TV will soon be available on televisions throughout the home, as several independent television and hardware manufacturers have announced near-term plans to provide technology, enabling internet-served video to be viewed on any television in the home.

A Little Bit of KoldCast History

David S. Samuels, together with sons Brian J. and Gregory L., began laying the foundation for KoldCast TV in August, 2006 after thoughtful analysis of advancing technologies, including the rapid acceleration of the long-anticipated convergence of the television and the computer. The Samuels ultimately concluded that "convergence" was not only real, possible and moving forward at light speed, they knew that the delivery of large video files over broadband connections would allow them to build a distribution channel for their own creative ideas and those of others. With an understanding of the many challenges that creative artists face in Hollywood, together with their respect for the power of media distribution, the trio began developing further the concept and business plan to build the first true new media television network on the internet.

In early 2007, after a purely social lunch meeting between David Samuels and George Riviere, who together built a successful multi-national software company that the two took public in 1991 (Samuels as chairman, CEO and president; Riviere as Vice President of R& D), Samuels suggested to Riviere that he might be interested in hearing about the Samuels family's secretive adventure into television. Intrigued and looking for his own new adventure after recently retiring from a lengthy career at the software company, Samuels spilled the beans and Riviere and the Samuels clan soon met. Shortly thereafter, Riviere joined KoldCast as an equity partner and now plays a significant role at the company (Executive VP, Strategic Technologies), together with Brian Samuels (VP, Strategic Planning and Business Development) and Greg Samuels (VP, Business Development).

The KoldCast TV executive management team continues to grow and now includes former television industry executives and personalities. History though, has not yet been written on an adventure gone quite serious.
