Metso and Petrobras Conclude a Long-Term Supply Contract


HELSINKI, Finland, Oct. 3, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Metso Automation and Petrobras of Brazil concluded in June a long-term supply agreement for the automation modernization project of the REVAP refinery. The scope of the delivery will be comprised of process automation systems and solutions as well as related services. The deliveries will spread over the next five years, with the total order value exceeding EUR 12 million.

The modernization project is a major expansion of the existing distributed control systems (DCS) installed in Petrobras REVAP refinery. It will add more than 20,000 wired process input/output (I/O) interfaces to the existing system. The aim of the project is to meet new environmental specifications for the gasoline, as demanded by the Brazilian government.

REVAP refinery's main products are gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, LPG, asphalt and sulfur. The refinery is located at Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo.
