Layne Christensen Prices Public Offering of Common Stock


MISSION WOODS, Kan., Oct. 10, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Layne Christensen Company (Nasdaq:LAYN) today announced that it has priced the public offering of 2,700,000 shares of its common stock at $54.50 per share. Net proceeds of the offering, before expenses, are expected to be approximately $139.8 million, after deducting the underwriting discount and commissions. Layne intends to use the net proceeds to reduce the outstanding balance on its credit facility and for general corporate purposes, as well as funding for possible acquisitions. Layne expects the offering to close on October 15, 2007.

UBS Securities LLC and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated are serving as joint book-running managers for the offering. J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc., D.A. Davidson & Co. and BMO Capital Markets Corp. are serving as co-managers. Layne has granted the underwriters an over-allotment option to purchase an additional 405,000 shares of common stock.
