CDMA Congratulates WANA On Surpassing One Million Subscribers

Moroccan Operator's Easy to Use 'Bayn' Service is Highly Preferred in the Nation

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 29, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today congratulated WANA on surpassing one million subscribers on its 'Bayn' service, meaning 'clear' in Arabic. In addition to giving subscribers unprecedented mobility and usability, WANA is the first Moroccan operator to offer wireless Internet access at peak speeds up to 2.4 Mbps and to price telephone calls as low as one dirham.

"The CDG commends WANA on quickly reaching this important milestone," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "Bayn is an excellent example of how CDMA2000(r) offers operators a cost-effective way to provide simple and affordable telephone services along with high-performance broadband services using the same network in a variety of deployment scenarios. Deploying the CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO network has given WANA a substantial competitive edge against its competitors."

WANA sells the 'Bayn' service as 'a call shop in your pocket,' offering a user experience inside and outside of the home that mirrors the trusted Moroccan call shop-giving subscribers greater control, transparency, comfort and accessibility.

"WANA is very pleased to witness the ways in which 'Bayn' is changing the face of Morocco's communications culture," said Reda El Mejjad, Executive Vice President, Consumer division of WANA. "This is made possible in large part because of CDMA2000's adaptability and incredible performance. Reaching one million subscribers validates both the technology and our marketing vision."
