Windows Automatic Update Changes Will Now be Detected by WinPatrol 2007

SCOTIA, N.Y., Oct. 29, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- BillP Studios today announced an update to its popular WinPatrol security software. WinPatrol 12.2.2007 will alert users to any attempts to change the Windows Automatic Update settings for Windows XP and Windows Vista.

WinPatrol has a ten-year history of monitoring unique system settings providing zero-day protection against spyware, unwanted system tray icons and reoccurring startup programs. PC World magazine recently honored WinPatrol including it on their list of "100 Best Products of 2007."

"There are some system settings that Windows users want to control themselves," according to WinPatrol creator Bill Pytlovany. "WinPatrol has always monitored preferences like home page, or file type associations and now we're going to make sure your auto update settings aren't hijacked." Recent news stories have noted that changes to the Windows update settings have been occurring without the users' knowledge or permission. The newest WinPatrol addresses this threat and prevents changes.

WinPatrol 2007 is free and available for download from many online sites or directly from www.WinPatrol.com. A professional version, "WinPatrol PLUS," is also available online for $29.95 USD.
