Hikvision to Adopt Techwell's Next Generation TW2864 4-in-1 Video Decoder

Future Hikvision H.264 Embedded DVR, DVS, and PC DVR Card Solutions to Leverage Techwell TW2864 4-in-1 Video Decoders

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 2, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Techwell, Inc. (Nasdaq:TWLL), a leading designer of mixed signal video semiconductor solutions for the security surveillance, automotive, and consumer electronics markets, today announced Hikvision plans to adopt Techwell's next generation TW2864 4-in-1 video decoder for their future DVR, DVS and PC DVR Card applications. Featuring the latest H.264 video and audio compression algorithms, Hikvision is the leading developer of China's rapidly growing video surveillance industry. Utilizing Techwell's latest generation highly integrated, feature rich NTSC/PAL video decoder surveillance IC will enable Hikvision to strengthen its DVR platform as well as build on its leadership position in the China and international markets. Techwell will be demonstrating the TW2864 4-in-1 video decoder and other integrated security solutions at the 11th Annual China Public Security Expo Nov 1-4, 2007 located in the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center Booth Number: C001,C002,C131,C132.

"Techwell continues to set the gold standard for video decoder performance in the security surveillance industry," said Wei Qi Wu, Executive Vice President of Hikvision. "By providing the most advanced adaptive comb filter algorithms and the highest level of integration with their advanced audio ADC, Techwell continues to offer products that are unmatched in the industry. We expect to further build on our leadership position within the video surveillance industry both in China and throughout the world through the adoption of Techwell's TW2864."

"We are proud to continue our long standing partnership with Hikvision with their adoption of our new TW2864," said Darron Ma, President of Techwell China. "Hikvison remains the market leader and visionary for security surveillance solutions and we look forward to continuing to support them in the future."

The TW2864 includes four high quality NTSC/PAL video decoders that convert analog composite video signal to digital component YCbCr data. The device contains four 10-bit ADCs and proprietary clamp and gain controllers and utilizes adaptive 4H comb filter for separating luminance and chrominance to reduce cross noise artifacts. The new IC adopts the image enhancement techniques such as IF compensation filter, CTI and programmable peaking. The TW2864 also includes an audio codec which has four audio ADCs and one audio DAC. A built-in audio controller can generate digital outputs for recording/mixing and accepts digital input for playback.

Compared to previous generation Techwell video decoder products, the TW2864 adds a host of new and first-to-market features:

-- Improved adaptive 4H comb filters for all NTSC and PAL standards
-- 4-channel D1 time division multiplexed output at 108MHz clock
-- PCM 8/16-bit and u-Law/A-Law 8-bit for audio word length
 -- Programmable audio sample rates: 8, 16, 32, 44.1 and 48kHz
-- Video field locked audio sample support
-- Audio master/slave I2S interface for playback and record
