WASHINGTON, Nov. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named John R. Landon vice president of missiles, technology and space programs. In this position, Landon reports to Larry Lanzillotta, vice president of customer relations within the company's government relations organization. Landon will be located in the company's Washington D.C. Office.

Landon joined Northrop Grumman from the U.S. Department of Defense where he held a number of increasingly important positions including deputy assistant secretary for Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Information Technology Acquisition in the Office of the Secretary of Defense since 2005. From 2004 to 2005, he served as principal director of Networks and Information Integration Programs. Previously, Landon was principal director of Command, Control & Communications, Intelligence (C3I) Programs; director of Program Analysis and Integration; assistant deputy undersecretary of defense for Space Systems & Architectures; and principal deputy of Strategic Forces Policy.
Landon served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1996, achieving the rank of Colonel.
Landon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California.
During his service with federal government, Landon received several distinguished services awards including Distinguished Executive, Presidential Rank (2006); Meritorious Executive, President Rank (2002); Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service (2001 and 2007); Senior Executive Service Performance Awards (1997-2006); and Defense Superior Service Medal (1996).
