Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd in 10 months handles 11.2 mln tons of crude oil and petroleum products

Since the beginning of the year, volume of transshipments at Ventspils nafta
termināls Ltd, a subsidiary of the joint stock company Ventspils nafta, has
more than doubled in comparison with the respective period of 2006, in
January-October reaching already 11.2 million tons of crude oil and petroleum
products, which is by 6.4 million tons more than in the respective period last
year. Crude oil and petroleum products cargos are transported to the terminal
by rail, sea and via diesel pipeline. The increase in volume of transshipments
at the terminal was caused by full involvement of Vitol Group, a shareholder of
JSC Ventspils nafta and co-owner of Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd, in
activities of the company ensuring that cargo owners give their preference to
the transit services rendered by Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd. 

During ten months of 2007, Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd was mainly
transshipping diesel fuel (7.8 million tons) delivered by rail and via
petroleum products pipeline. Transshipment volume of gasoline of various grades
transported by rail (already 1.6 million tons this year) is also considerable.
In January-October this year, 1.6 million tons of crude oil and petroleum
products delivered by sea were handled, as well. Crude oil (0.9 million tons)
accounted for the highest proportion of sea cargos. 

Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd is a subsidiary of JSC Ventspils nafta. 51% of it
belongs to JSC Ventspils nafta while 49% are owned by the Vitol's company
Euromin Holdings (Cyprus) Limited. The terminal renders transit services:
reception of oil and diesel fuel via pipelines, as well as reception, storage
and transshipment of crude oil, diesel fuel, motor gasoline and other petroleum
products delivered by rail and sea. 

Ventspils nafta termināls Ltd is the largest of such companies in the region,
and its crude oil and petroleum products shore-tank farm reaches 1.2 million
cubic metres and has no analogues among similar companies in the nearest
countries.
