Delta's Shirley Bridges Recognized as Georgia CIO of the Year


ATLANTA, Nov. 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Shirley Bridges, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) senior vice president and chief information officer, was recognized this week as 2007 Georgia CIO of the Year(r) by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association (GCLA). The award honors Bridges' excellence in managing enterprise-wide information systems, which power real-time operational control throughout the airline, as well as valuable up-to-the-minute flight information for customers through delta.com, gate information display screens and messages to personal mobile and web-enabled devices.

Bridges is the ninth annual recipient in the GCLA Global award category which recognizes technology leaders of companies with more than 2,500 information technology users and multinational operations.

Now with more than 30 years of project management and information technology experience, Bridges joined Delta's information technology department in 1990. She earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Clark Atlanta University and holds a master's certificate in project management from George Washington University.
