LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employee Stacie Suggs was honored with The Society of Women Engineers' (SWE) Distinguished New Engineer award. She was recognized for her technical contributions as a subject matter expert in power-converter hardware, her leadership in the SWE organization and her outreach to the community.

Suggs, a lead power conversion test engineer, has served as her department's subject matter expert at Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector. She is responsible for all aspects of the test equipment process: developing requirements, maintaining systems, overseeing software modifications and integration, and serving as lead design reviewer for test systems and flight hardware.

Suggs also serves as one of the company's technical rotation program managers, ensuring that employees participating in the program are exposed to different areas of the company through short-term assignments as part of their career development activities. In this role, she draws from her technical background and her desire to help others contribute to a program's overall success.
Suggs earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago and a master's degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach. She has held many leadership roles in the SWE's Los Angeles section, including president. Suggs currently tutors local middle school students, mentors new employees and assists student sections of both the SWE and the National Society of Black Engineers, allowing her to remain connected to the community.
The Distinguished New Engineer Award honors women engineers who have been actively engaged in engineering, demonstrated outstanding technical performance, and have had no more than 10 years of cumulative engineering experience.
