Northrop Grumman, CSSS.NET Cooperate Under Mentor-Protege Program

BELLEVUE, Neb., Nov. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) recently signed an agreement with the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to form a mentor-protege relationship with Omaha-based Client/Server Software Solution.NET (CSSS.NET) as part of the U.S. Defense Department's Mentor-Protege program.

Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector will mentor CSSS.NET for three years and will support CSSS.NET's efforts to acquire geospatial information systems technologies and expertise and enhance the firm's performance as a supplier and teaming partner on information technology programs with the Defense Department, NGA, NASA and other government agencies.

Founded in 1997 by company president Lisa N. Wolford, CSSS.NET provides end-to-end information technology engineering solutions. CSSS.NET employs more than 75 people and is a certified small, disadvantaged, 8(a), woman-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned business with offices in Bellevue, Chicago and Washington, D.C.

For more than a decade, CSSS.NET has supported the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, U.S. Strategic Command and the Air Force Weather Agency. This Mentor-Protege agreement and the geospatial information system technology transfer it facilitates will position CSSS.NET for greater growth in the coming years.

"CSSS.NET is proud to be aligned with Northrop Grumman and all the experience a tier-one company can provide," Wolford said. "We are teaming with Northrop Grumman on multiple opportunities and look forward to the chance to enhance their offerings as well as strengthen our organization and promote growth."

Northrop Grumman has assisted approximately 100 small businesses under the Mentor-Protege program and has 26 active Mentor-Protege agreements. The company has received 17 Nunn-Perry Awards from the Defense Department since 1995 for its work with small companies under the Mentor-Protege program.

"Participating in the Mentor-Protege program gives Northrop Grumman a chance to transfer key defense technology and expertise to smaller firms and help groom them to successfully compete in the military and government markets," said Bob Hinson, Northrop Grumman corporate lead executive for the Nebraska region. "CSSS.NET has a great reputation for quality and has become a valued member of the Northrop Grumman supplier team."
