The State to subscribe for shares in Finnair Oyj

On Thursday, 29 November, the Government authorised the Prime Minister's Office
to subscribe for a maximum of 22 004 744 shares in Finnair Oyj, the total
subscription price not exceeding EUR 138.6 million, and to sell the possible
remaining subscription rights at market price.

By subscribing the announced maximum number of shares, the State will maintain
its 55.78 per cent ownership of the company's share capital. In the State
portfolio of shares, Finnair is categorised as a company of strategic
significance in which the State must maintain majority shareholding.

An appropriation for the subscription of shares was earmarked in the third
supplementary budget 2007.

Through the share issue, Finnair is raising funds for investments in new
aircraft. By participating in the share issue, the State enables Finnair to
maintain, in an economically sound manner, connections to countries of
particular interest to Finland.
