Government Communications Unit Press Release 363/2007 29.11.2007 The State to subscribe for shares in Finnair Oyj On Thursday, 29 November, the Government authorised the Prime Minister's Office to subscribe for a maximum of 22 004 744 shares in Finnair Oyj, the total subscription price not exceeding EUR 138.6 million, and to sell the possible remaining subscription rights at market price. By subscribing the announced maximum number of shares, the State will maintain its 55.78 per cent ownership of the company's share capital. In the State portfolio of shares, Finnair is categorised as a company of strategic significance in which the State must maintain majority shareholding. An appropriation for the subscription of shares was earmarked in the third supplementary budget 2007. Through the share issue, Finnair is raising funds for investments in new aircraft. By participating in the share issue, the State enables Finnair to maintain, in an economically sound manner, connections to countries of particular interest to Finland.
