Infinera DTN Completes OSMINE Services Process

Qualification Simplifies Integration With Service Provider Operations

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 3, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Infinera DTN has completed the Telcordia Technologies' Operations Systems Modifications for the Integration of Network Elements (OSMINE) Services process for Telcordia TIRKS(r) and Telcordia NMA(r) Operation Systems within service provider infrastructures that employ these operations systems.

Telcordia's OSMINE services certification is an important step for larger service providers, who typically require OSMINE certification to ensure interoperability with their existing networking infrastructure. OSMINE certification will enable more service providers to enjoy the benefits of the Infinera DTN, the only DWDM platform based on large-scale photonic integration.

"As the industry-recognized method for attaining compatibility with Telcordia embedded OSS solutions, the OSMINE integration process is a key step for Network Element Providers (NEPs) selling into the Tier 1 market," said Maria Croat, VP, Transport Network Management Systems, Telcordia. "Completing the OSMINE integration process gives NEPs and their service provider customers the confidence that after a solution is deployed, critical performance and operational support will be provided."

"We view OSMINE certification as an important step towards deployment into the Qwest network," said Pieter Poll, CTO at Qwest Communications. "Completion of OSMINE ensures that a network element can be deployed without concern over how this element will be managed by our operations systems."

"The completion of OSMINE qualification is an important milestone for Infinera, as it now enables U.S. Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) to enjoy streamlined integration of the Infinera DTN with their OSS environment," said Chris Liou, Infinera Vice President of Product Management. "With OSMINE certification now complete, RBOCs can now take advantage of many of the features of the Infinera DTN, such as its bandwidth virtualization capability which enhances service flexibility by decoupling the bandwidth services from the underlying optical waves. Bandwidth virtualization enables carriers to focus more on the services by isolating the optical issues from higher layer services and is designed to enable carriers to flexibly offer any service, anywhere."

The Infinera DTN is a Digital ROADM for long-haul and metro core networks, combining high-capacity DWDM transport, integrated digital bandwidth management, and GMPLS-powered service intelligence in a single platform.
