Finnforest France acquires the timber upgrading business of Gillet

04/12/2007
Finnforest improves its possibilities to serve DIY and merchant customers in
France and at the Iberian Peninsula by acquiring the business of Gillet S.A.,
based in Casteljaloux, South-Western France.

“Finnforest will now be able to offer its customers a broader product
portfolio, more finishing alternatives and better logistical services in France
and at the Iberian Peninsula,” says John Tong, head of Upgrading and
Distribution Business Line.

“Our long-lasting partnership and Finnforest's plans for developing the
business made Finnforest an ideal partner to lead Gillet to the future,” says
Philippe Gillet, the former owner of the company, founded by Edmond Gillet in
1889.

Gillet's sales totalled 6 million euros in 2006, and it employs 57 people. With
its annual production of 15 000 m3 of maritime pine, it is the 7th leading
producer of maritime pine flooring and panelling in France. The share of
exports is 10%, mainly to Spain.

The agreement was signed on 30 November 2007. As of January 2008,
Finnforest France will serve its customers at four sites: Honfleur (head office
and distribution center), Boulleville (upgrading facility), Gennevilliers
(Building Solutions and Solid Wood sales), and Casteljaloux (sawmill, maritime
pine upgrading, distribution center).
