Dreams, Spirituality, Love, Humor and Van Gogh -- With the Stuff of Dreams, Love and Humor as His Muses, California Poet Releases a Poetry Collection of Extraordinary Depth and Scope

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The poetry world is about to gain a major new talent and contemplative newcomer in Alan Buckholtz who, in a newly released book, has constructed an extraordinarily diverse poetry collection.

In Dance on Your Dreams (Xlibris Publishing), Buckholtz masterfully fuses together a profound diversity of surreal imagery, and a lyrical romanticism that will stir and shake the depths of your heart's passion. Philosophical depths, great humor (My Woodpecker, among others) and his distinctive homages to composers and artists meld his probing pen into a masterful anthology that will catapult this multi-faceted poet and philosopher to the zenith of the genre.

Dance on Your Dreams, slated to hit bookstores this month, brings together a lifetime of triumphs and pain by the eloquently contemplative Buckholtz, who takes the readers on an unforgettable flight on the wings of his words as he rhapsodizes about the stuff that dreams-and life-are made of. In this stellar anthology, Buckholtz presents an incredibly eclectic selection of his very best works, dazzling the readers with a luminous array of poems that salute the artistic genius of the likes of Van Gogh and Beethoven, explore the profound essence of existence, and celebrate the joys of life and the magic of love.

This collection consists of poems that have already left a lasting effect on its readers. The poem One, which tackles metaphysical aspects of life, has been called "one of the best poems I have ever read," by poet Rajaram Ramachandran. Poetry enthusiast Linda Ori describes the memorable title piece, Dance on Your Dreams, as "such amazing words and feelings."

The elegiac Van Gogh, Buckholtz's impassioned ode to the tormented Dutch master, has been described as "a perfect piece of art" by poet and Van Gogh aficionado Elya Thorn. Of I Miss a Place I've Never Been Before, poet Pia Anderson writes, "Such longing and dreams...How beautifully you write."

About the Author

Alan Buckholtz was born in Los Angeles, California. When he was less than one year old his biological father passed away. Alan was raised by his mother, Blanche and his stepfather, Sam Buckholtz. They had two children, Marshall and Sharon, completing their family.

Alan met his late wife Nancy in a coffee shop (read Coffee Shop), where they were introduced by a mutual friend. They were married eleven months later and produced three children; a son, Aaron, Laura (Aaron's twin) and Jenny. Their daughters blessed Nancy and Alan with four granddaughters; Samantha, Jessica, Rachel and Lauren. Nancy taught grade school in the inner city and later became an attorney, working with Alan in his law office until she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Alan took a leave from work and devoted himself entirely to Nancy's care for almost two years until her passing in 2002.

Poetry is now one of Alan's passions and perhaps a part of his healing process. He believes he has inherited any talent he may possess from his mother, now 97, whom he describes as a brilliant poet and a renaissance woman. Alan has submitted his mother's collection of poetry, thoughts and letters in a separate book, The Poetry of Blanche Buckholtz, published concurrently with Dance on Your Dreams.
