Capital reduction in Sydbank and holding of own shares


On 12 September 2007, the Extraordinary General Meeting of Sydbank passed a
resolution to the effect of reducing the Bank's share capital by DKK 25m
nominal to DKK 675m nomi-nal. 

The capital reduction which will be effected through the repayment of part of
the Bank's holding of own shares is implemented as of today - following the
expiry on 18 December of the three months' notice as well as the affirmation by
the Board of Directors of the resolution passed by the Extraordinary General
Meeting, and registration with the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency as at
19 December. 

As a consequence of the capital reduction, an amount of DKK 25.0m (2,500,000
shares) of Sydbank's holding of own shares has been cancelled. The holding of
own shares amounts to 3,520,957 shares, equal to 5.22% of the share capital of
DKK 675m. In accordance with the Bank's most recent stock exchange announcement
in this respect (No 13/07 dated 22 June 2007) the holding of own shares
constituted 3,601,177 shares, equal to 5.14% of the share capital of DKK 700m
at that time.
