Decision of the Competition Authority of Iceland

The Competition Authority of Iceland published today its decision regarding Hf.
Eimskipafelag Islands in a case which started in the year 2002. Eimskip is of
the opinion
that the investigation of the case has taken far too long. Eimskip feels that
the decision is wrongly addressed to Eimskip as a new company is today
responsible for shipping activities of the company and other companies have
taken over its rights and obligations.

Eimskip has decided to appeal the case to the Competition Appeals Commitee and
a final decision will therefore only be taken later. Fines in the case amounted
to 310 million ISK.
