The Power Situation in Norway as of 6 April 2005

Lysaker, 06 april 2005

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):

The effective inflow of water to the reservoirs during week 13 was normal, while milder weather resulted in falling demand and reduced electricity production. However, the inflow of water is still lower than production, resulting in a falling reservoir filling level. During week 13, the filling level fell by 2.4 percentage points to 36.8 percent. That is 4.7 percentage points below normal, but 8.9 percentage points higher than at the same time last year.

In Sweden, electricity consumption fell from week 12 to week 13, while production remained unchanged. This resulted in the Norwegian electricity export to Sweden falling from 125 GWh in week 12, to 78 GWh in week 13. The reservoir filling level in Sweden is now 22.8 percent, after falling by 2.4 percentage points during week 13.
