The Power Situation in Norway as of 11 April 2007

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):     

Halved electricity prices since last year  
  In the last four weeks, average electricity price at the Nordic power market has been 18.8 øre/kWh. This is less than half the price of the same period last year. Electricity prices have not been this low since September 2002. In week 14, the price for consumers with a spot price contract was 54 percent lower than last year. 

I Norwegian reservoir levels fell by 1.6 percentage points throughout week 14. Average reservoir level is now 37.5 percent, 1.3 percentage points below normal. There is, however relatively high levels of snow in the mountains, making the total hydropower situation better than normal. Average reservoir level in Sweden was 25.0 percentage points at the end of week 14.
