The Power Situation in Norway as of 13 September 2006

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):     

Increased power production in Denmark and Finland  
   The power production in Denmark and Finland increased by 10 percent from week 35 to week 36. Together the two countries produced 2.3 TWh last week. Hence, the production was 0.6 TWh, or more than 30 percent, higher than in week 36 last year. The Norwegian export fell by 50 percent to 58 GWh.  

The precipitation in week 36 was about normal and the inflow was somewhat higher than normal. The water reservoir level in Norway increased by 1.0 percentage points to 61.2 percent and this is 24.4 percentage points below normal. The reservoir level in Sweden is at present 63.4 percent. This is an increase of 2.1 percentage points from last week. 

The prices at the electricity exchange fell for the second consecutive week. From week 35 to week 36 the electricity price for South-Norway fell by 9 percent to 53.7 øre/kWh.
