Michigan Hispanic Chamber Supports Expansion of Health Care Services in Detroit

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 31, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MHCC) strengthened the health care safety net for Detroit residents with a $25,000 gift to the Community Health and Social Services (CHASS) Center, Inc.

As part of the CHASS capital campaign, the gift will be used to offset pre-development expenses associated with the construction of a new facility in Southwest Detroit. The new building will enable the organization to more than double its capacity to provide comprehensive health and wellness services to Detroit residents. The total cost of the building is projected at $13 million.

"Members of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce believe that quality health care services are critical for their employees and families. We are proud to support this much needed expansion of CHASS," said Lizabeth Ardisana, MHCC president and CEO of ASG Renaissance, an international professional services firm based in Dearborn.

Ricardo Guzman, CEO, CHASS Center, said, "The MHCC's important donation demonstrates that the business community understands and supports the need for increased access to health care services in this community and throughout Detroit. We hope these dollars will leverage other funding from both the public and private sector."

CHASS is a not-for-profit, community-based organization that provides comprehensive health and wellness services to Detroit residents.
