Eimskip has reached an agreement for the sale of the 49% share in the aircraft holding company Northern Lights Leasing. The value of the 49% shares in the company is approximately EUR 22 million or ISK 2 billion. 49% share in Northern Lights Leasing (NLL) was acquired by AAI Holding ehf., which is owned by Hannes Hilmarsson, CEO of Air Atlanta, and Geir Valur Ágústsson, VP of Finance of Air Atlanta. Northern Lights Leasing holds the Air Atlanta fleet of aircraft, consisting of 13 widebody jet aircraft. After the sale, Eimskip has fully withdrawn from aviation related activity. The management plans to focus on the core activities of the company, namely freight transportation and the operation of cold storages. Eimskip has grown extremely rapidly and has increased its scope of activities by a factor of ten over the past three years.The company currently has a 13% market share on a global level in this field.
