NASDAQ Announces Year-End Index Performance Statistics

NASDAQ-100 Index Sets Performance Mark for the U.S. Equity Market


NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today announced the year-end performance of the NASDAQ Composite Index(r) and the NASDAQ-100 Index(r) -- the benchmarks of The NASDAQ Stock Market(r) and leading indicators of the U.S.-listed equity market. In 2007, the NASDAQ Composite Index and the NASDAQ-100 Index increased 9.81% and 18.67%, respectively.

The NASDAQ-100 Index and NASDAQ Composite Index outperformed the other major U.S. benchmarks including the S&P 500 Index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and the Russell 2000 Index.

During 2007, NASDAQ's Indexes paced the market for both broad-based and sector performance. The table below shows the performance in 2007 for some of NASDAQ's key indexes:
