Grocery and Convenience Retailers Prepare For Next-Generation Customer Loyalty Programs Using Retalix Software

DALLAS, Jan. 10, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Retalix(r) (Nasdaq:RTLX), a global provider of software solutions for retailers and distributors, announced today that more than a dozen grocery and convenience chains from North America, Europe and Asia have recently selected Retalix Loyalty as their next-generation customer loyalty and promotions management system.

Among them are Hy-Vee and Big Y in North America, Carrefour in Europe and WuMart in China. As a result, Retalix Loyalty will be enhancing the customer experiences in over 3,400 stores and 33,000-plus point-of-sale lanes running Retalix StoreLine, Retalix StorePoint and StoreNext ISS45 POS systems.

The growth comes as large, mid-size and independent merchants begin to leverage the power of next-generation loyalty and central promotion management to capture targeted data that helps them deliver customer value by better understanding specific shopper wants and needs, and responding to those needs with relevant offerings and promotions. Ultimately, this creates competitive differentiation and customer-centric operations, which increases sales and improves margins.

Retalix Loyalty provides total integration between promotion and loyalty functionality throughout all stages of the process, from headquarters to store - starting with central setup and deployment of marketing campaigns to the execution of personalized promotions and real-time customized communications to the consumer at the point-of-sale, following online access of customer data, and near real-time transmission of store transactions to the retailer's central database.

Retailers may choose between an advanced consumer targeted model for continuity-based rewards and shopper specific groupings or a universal product model to leverage the advanced promotional capabilities without consumer tracking.

"Our innovative loyalty and promotions platform leverages better integration, more sophisticated analytics and optimization tools, and new ease-of-use features," said Barry Shaked, President and CEO of Retalix. "Two years ago we had only one customer using the Retalix Loyalty solution, and now we have more than a dozen chains in various stages of adopting our system, and we're seeing increased interest from mid-tier companies and even independents and regional chains."

The surge in retailer interest in next-generation customer loyalty is underscored by a recent benchmark study from Retail Systems Research (RSR), a leading retail market research and advisory firm, which reported that 69 percent of respondents said their loyalty programs have become more important to their customer service strategies.

"While the industry as a whole still has a lot of road left to travel regarding loyalty programs, today's retailers who are getting the most success out of them are focused on capturing and using customer data to create a sense of customer intimacy and retail differentiation," said Nikki Baird, managing partner of RSR and author of the study. "Retail winners track not only the impact on sales, but they balance that against bottom-line metrics such as overall margin and response rates to loyalty offers, to ensure that customers see value in the programs too."

Retalix said it will demonstrate the next-generation capabilities of its Retalix Loyalty application at Booth #2523 during the National Retail Federation's (NRF) Annual Convention & Expo, Jan. 13-16 in New York.
