Plaut Switzerland rolls out a global planning solution at Ivoclar Vivadent
in six months

Ismaning/Regensdorf(CH), January 23, 2008 – Ivoclar Vivadent, which is
headquartered in Schaan, Liechtenstein, has been able to carry out its
extensive budgeting activities for 2008 on time on the basis of a newly
installed global planning platform. Ivoclar Vivadent, one of the world’s
leading dental technology companies, recently mapped all its business
processes worldwide with SAP ERP and has now migrated reporting of all key
corporate figures from sales, logistics, production and controlling to a
central SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) system. As a result, costs have
been able to be cut sharply in the strongly decentralized company and the
quality of processes and information boosted. The partner in this project
was Plaut Switzerland, Regensdorf (CH).

The 2,200 employees of Ivoclar Vivadent generated some 370 million Euro in
2006, a growth rate of almost 11%. The company’s products are sold globally
through 15 foreign branch offices. The next step in improving business
administration processes and workflows at Ivoclar Vivadent therefore
related to corporate planning on the basis of the new business processes.
The previous heterogeneous planning process was characterized by sharp
discontinuities among the systems used and highly ramified handling of
planning, something that tied up an excessive amount of personnel. This
project’s general objective was to significantly simplify the planning
process, but without compromising the quality of information. Plaut
Switzerland was also entrusted with this demanding project due to its
proven expertise as an SAP Global Partner and expert in uniting business
management and information technology.

The planning solution designed by Ivoclar Vivadent and Plaut was
implemented using SAP BW-BPS Release 3.5 (Business Planning & Simulation) –
within six months and on time for the start of the 2008 budget phase in
September 2007. A central SAP server located in Liechtenstein is used as
the planning system and can now be accessed by all Vivadent companies
worldwide over the Web. The solution also boasts a number of business
management highlights, for example complete, self-contained planning of
sales quantities, revenues, cost of goods sold (COGS), contribution margins
and fixed costs up to the EBIT level, consolidated at the group level and
also at the level of the individual companies (legal entities). Initial
budgeting for fiscal 2008 revealed that the formulated solution not only
complied fully with the original objective, but also harbors great
additional potential benefits, such as:

- The time and resources required for planning were considerably slashed.
- The planning process offers a high degree of flexibility and coordination
thanks to integration of all companies and a consistent view of the data
- The performance of business management planning performance has been
expanded and improved
- Group reporting is now controlling-oriented. That means rapid
provisioning of up-to-date and coordinated business management data and key
figures for the Supervisory Board and corporate management to enable
controlling of the company promptly in response to events.

Christian Ritzberger, Director Business Management Systems and Controlling
at Ivoclar Vivadent, expresses his satisfaction with the result: 'First we
improved the quality of our business processes and reporting tools together
with Plaut and now we have collaborated successfully to engineer our
planning processes in line with the requirements of a global company.'
