The 2009 launch of F1-X in MotorCity was announced at the Dubai Autodrome with much flair in the presence of thousands of spectators and media.
F1-X will be a one-stop haven for families, kids, motorists, and thrill enthusiasts to get an eXtensive inside peek and hands-on experience of the World of Formula One. Today spectators at the Autodrome got an eXciting and eXhilarating taste of things to come as F1-X officially announced its presence and flexed its muscles through the eXhibition of a visually and technically flabbergasting stunt, designed and delivered by Mr Ric Birch, best known as the Master of Olympic Ceremonies, whereby go-karts drove over the heads of 150 men, symbolizing the fact that most of today's Formula One pilots founded their racing careers in the sport of karting.
The name F1-X was chosen to represent the many unique facets of the Formula One brand - Xtreme sport, Xcellence, Xcitement, Xclusivity, and of course elements of the park itself - Xhibits, Xploration and guests Xpectations Xceeded. F1-X, situated next to the Dubai Autodrome is one of the five project-components of MotorCity developed by Union Properties (UP), and will be the first theme park of its kind in the world, as well as the first attraction to open in Dubailand in 2009, making it the first F1-X theme park to open around the world, with plans to roll-out globally already underway.
