LASCO's Twelfth Newbuilding Delivered

Hereby JSC Latvijas kuģniecība (Latvian Shipping Company - LASCO) informs that
today, 30 January 2008, its fleet has been expanded with another newly built
tanker: the delivery of the twelfth of in total eighteen tanker newbuildings
ordered by LASCO took place at 3.Maj shipyard in Croatia.

It has become a tradition for LASCO to name its newbuildings after Latvian
towns and regions. Also this time the newbuilding has been granted the euphonic
name of Uzava. The role of the ship's Godmother was entrusted to Ms. Ilva
Purēna, Member of JSC Latvijas kuģniecība Management Board.

LASCO is a competitive company in the world shipping industry with its
development in the long-term perspective based on a purposeful activity in the
handy-size and middle-range tanker segment providing its customers with highly
qualified services in compliance with international safety standards. LASCO's
core business is transportation of cargoes by sea, the largest part of which is
done by the Company's 1,287,236 deadweight ton (DWT) large product tanker fleet
that ensures about 80% of the Group's net voyage result.

In total, already twelve newbuildings have been delivered to LASCO since summer
2006. Thus, at present JSC Latvijas kuģniecība fleet comprises 38 product
tankers (of which three are time chartered in from other ship-owners) carrying
petroleum products, easy chemicals, oils and other liquid cargoes, 2 LPG
carriers, 5 reefer vessels and 1 Ro-Ro/general type vessel.
