ATLANTA, Feb. 5, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- There's nothing like stretching out in a full-flat bed, complete with comfy duvet and full-size pillow at 30,000 feet. Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today in London unveiled a new full-flat seat that will become the standard in its BusinessElite(r) class on international flights served with Boeing 767-400 aircraft beginning next spring. Eventually, all of Delta's international Boeing 767 aircraft will feature a full-flat seat.

Beginning next spring, the first Boeing 767-400 will sport 40 seats designed by James Thompson Solutions and engineered and manufactured by Contour Premium Aircraft Seating that recline to 77-inch-long beds in a one-two-one configuration giving every BusinessElite customer direct aisle access. Additionally, the new experience will feature:



 * A full-size pillow, quilted duvet comforter, and new dinnerware;
 * Delta's industry-leading on-demand digital entertainment with hours
   of music, videos, TV programming and games shown on a 10.6 inch
   screen;
 * PC power and USB port for charging small electronics;
 * Oversized consoles for every passenger, perfect for personal work
   space;
 * Personal reading light;
 * Shoe storage; and
 * Ergonomic lumbar support.

International customers flying in economy class on Delta's 767-400 also will enjoy Delta on Demand digital entertainment, as well as printed menus, a free cocktail with their meal and mid-flight snack. Complimentary amenity kits include eye shades and ear plugs.

In late February, Delta will become the first U.S. airline to take delivery of the Boeing 777 Long Range (LR). The new Delta aircraft will feature the Solar Elite Full Flat Suite manufactured by Contour Premium Aircraft Seating. The 6-feet, 3-inch beds will begin flying on Delta's ultra long-haul routes, like JFK to Mumbai, India, in April. Additional 777LR aircraft will be delivered later this year.

Delta outfits international B-757 fleet with new BusinessElite recliner seat

As Delta continues its unprecedented global expansion, it's also reconfiguring its new fleet of international-capable Boeing 757 aircraft with a comfortable cradle recliner-style seat by Recaro Aircraft Seating Inc. for BusinessElite customers flying between JFK and destinations like Brussels, Edinburgh, London-Gatwick, Manchester, and Paris-Orly. Beginning this summer, the new 757 seat offers 55 inches of pitch, reclining 14 inches in a two-by-two configuration. Additional features include:

One specialty entree on each flight has been created by Delta Chef Michelle Bernstein, and all wines have been hand-picked by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson. International premium cheeses or a fresh fruit plate follows the meal, and popular ice cream sundaes are also served after dinner.
