The Coming-of-Age of Sara Williams -- a Twenty-Year-Old Unwed Mother Pulls the Mask Off the Enron-Like Swindle of Her Charismatic Ex-Lover, His Conservatism and Religion, in a Gritty Romance That Offers a New Slant On Life

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Feb. 6, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In 1851, only ten percent of the people of the North wanted to abolish slavery. A year later, all that changed. Uncle Tom's Cabin had become a worldwide best seller. The reason was simple: it portrayed blacks as fully human. Rather than humanize a race, SCAMMING GOD humanizes a savior, relying on the incredible journey of its heroine and her unflinching look into the Gospels.

Based on a true story, SCAMMING GOD begins in 1976 and vibrates with the driving ambitions of our time and how they affect a young woman who gets knocked up by a con man, then gets even. Young and vulnerable, Sara falls for a charismatic criminal who founds a multimillion dollar, nationwide commodity brokerage with bad checks while fighting the federal government every step of the way. Just when street punks and Wall Street lawyers are rallying to his side, she somehow manages to pull the mask off his financial and legal juggernaut of corporate law and conservatism.

What makes this novel remarkable is the author's ability to draw us into the story and get us to see ourselves in each character. No one is immune to scams. We're all looking for the same things in life and too often we're willing to compromise our better judgment for unconditional love and acceptance. SCAMMING GOD works on every level -- the personal, philosophical and spiritual -- and poses the question, is Jesus human or divine? Ibarra places his faith in an experience-based approach to that question and, ultimately, in the wisdom of the American people.
