Magma Announces Agenda for MUSIC Users Conference Feb. 27-28 in Santa Clara

Topics Include Designing for 45-nm Processes, Power Optimization, Sign-Off, Automatic Test Pattern Generation, Advanced Physical Verification and Package-Aware I/O Planning

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Magma(r) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced the agenda for MUSIC, the Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits, Feb. 27-28 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. MUSIC provides an open forum for users to gain expertise using Magma's chip design software and to exchange ideas about, and solutions for, the challenges of nanometer integrated circuit and system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Each day the MUSIC program will feature two parallel tracks of technical presentations and tutorials given by Magma users, design industry experts and Magma's engineering research and development staff. Magma CEO Rajeev Madhavan will deliver a keynote address on Day 1 of the event. On Day 2, Chris Urmson, one of the leading figures in robot navigation and director of technology for Carnegie Mellon University's Tartan Racing, will present a keynote on "Boss," the autonomous vehicle his team developed. Boss was demonstrated at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and won the $2 million 2007 DARPA Challenge.

Over the years MUSIC has become a leading venue for Magma users to gather to share and learn best practices and solutions for nanometer design challenges. Charlie Matar, vice president of engineering at Qualcomm, will be this year's MUSIC chairman. This year's program will cover a variety of topics that will help designers achieve silicon success on leading-edge ICs in new technology nodes, power optimization, sign-off, automatic test pattern generation, advanced physical verification and package-aware I/O planning.

Users' presentations include:

 * Implementing Complex SoCs with Advanced Process Technology using
   Magma
 * Optimizing an Multi-Vdd Flow to Handle Complex Low-Power Designs
 * Improvement of Sign-off Mode Analysis in the Blast Fusion(r)
   Environment
 * Meeting Test Challenges with Talus(r) ATPG
 * Talus qDRC: Physical Verification within the Talus Environment
 * Planning and Closure for Large-Capacity Designs
