Yara intends to expand Siilinjärvi phosphate rock mining

Yara International ASA announced today the company's intension to
expand Siilinjärvi phosphate rock mining. At phase one capacity will
be increased by 150 000 tons of rock per year to 1 000 000 tons, when
today the annual capacity of Siilinjärvi is 850 000 tons of rock per
year. This increase can be achieved with the modification of the
existing grinding and flotation. The expansion is expected to be
operational during the second half of the year 2009.

The second phase is planned for years 2010-2011. The potential
capacity increase is planned to be 300 000 tons of rock per year
raising the total capacity to 1.3 million tons per year. If phase two
is carried out it means also investments for new crushers, grinding
and flotation.

Yara announced also that the Sokli feasibility study has been
started. Sokli is separate project from the Siilinjärvi expansion
projects. Yara has announced earlier that the company is interested
in opening the Sokli mine in the Finnish Lapland if a commercially
sustainable means of implementation will be found.
