Greater Dallas Chamber Presents Protecting Your Intellectual Property in a Global Economy

DALLAS, Feb. 15, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- For most technology and life science companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, intellectual property (IP) is the foundation of a company's portfolio. As companies grow and look at international expansions, executives need to focus on strategies, both domestically and internationally, that will protect their IP.

On February 27, 2008, expert speakers will address current patent legislation, changes to the patent environment and corporate strategies for patent protection. Technology and life science companies can learn how to protect their assets in an international business climate. Charles Eloshway, attorney-advisor in the U.S. Patent and Trademark's Office of Intellectual Property Policy and Enforcement, will deliver the keynote address. Expert panelists will be provided by Fish & Richardson P.C., Guard-IT Escrow Services, and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Office of Intellectual Property Rights.

"The 2008 legal environment for intellectual property is facing changes from pending patent reform legislation and proposed changes in U.S. Patent Office rules. All of this is occurring against the backdrop of a Supreme Court that has a renewed interest in intellectual property law," says Anita Meiklejohn, Ph.D., principal at Fish & Richardson P.C. Attendees at this luncheon seminar will hear from Meiklejohn and others on why it is increasingly important for companies to be closely watching the pending changes and understanding what their company can do to protect their IP assets.

Sponsored by Fish & Richardson P.C. and Guard-IT Escrow Services, the event will be held at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel (400 Crescent Court, Dallas TX, 75201) from 11:30 AM - 1:45 PM. The cost to attend is $40 for Technology Business Council Investors, $50 for Chamber Members, and $60 for General Admissions. Table sponsorships are still available for $700. Reservations may be made on line at www.DallasTBC.org or by calling 214-712-1937.
