MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Illinois Department of Human Services has renewed a contract with Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) for information technology (IT) services that streamline data processing operations for the state and provides critical resources to residents.
The five-year, $64 million contract is a renewal of a contract awarded to Northrop Grumman's IT sector in 2003.
Under the terms of the agreement, Northrop Grumman will provide data processing and network management support, and program management of electronic benefits transfer services for the State of Illinois' food stamp and other cash assistance programs.
"Northrop Grumman will apply its expertise in business process outsourcing services in the Health and Human Services arena to help Illinois and its citizens benefit from enhanced electronic transaction services," said John Kavanaugh, vice president of business process solutions for Northrop Grumman IT.
Northrop Grumman will also expand the state's Department of Human Services' Web site for assistance program participants to securely view transactions and easily request replacement benefits cards. The company will install an enhanced interactive voice response system for its call center, and upgrade the state's system for mailing new and replacement benefits cards.
Northrop Grumman's teammates on the contract include Affiliated Computer Services, Dallas, and GTECH Corporation, Providence, R.I.
