HMS Networks AB : Major breakthrough for HMS' new Anybus product

One of the world's leading manufacturers of variable speed drives
within industrial automation has decided to use new Anybus Technology
from HMS in their new product generation. Worth approximately 1 MSEK
in 2008, this Design-Win is estimated to reach more than 10 MSEK of
annual sales when in full production.

Variable Speed Drives are used within most areas of industrial
automation for the purpose of controlling electrical motors in
various applications. One of the growth drivers in this automation
segment is the ability to reduce energy consumption, which can be
further enhanced by efficient industrial networking. Accordingly, the
Anybus-CompactCom technology has been developed to optimize
communication interfaces in applications like this. CompactCom with
its new network processor reduces size, cost and power consumption
while improving performance even more.

- This is our largest Design-Win so far for our new Anybus
technology. The release process has proceeded above expectation and
we are already counting more than 100 Design-Wins. And, the fact that
one of the most important companies in industrial automation chooses
Anybus confirms our level of technology as well as our market
position, says Nicolas Hassbjer, CEO of HMS.

The customer, who is a global company selling to all industrial
markets, has up until now used communication solutions developed
in-house. Through the decision to use Anybus technology in their new
generation of products, the customer gains in flexibility allowing
the variable speed drives to be connected to more industrial
networks. At the same time, Anybus reduces the development time and
cost spent by the customer, enabling them to focus on development of
their core technology.
