Terveystalo centralizes its operations and sells its central laboratory to
Medix Laboratoriot Oy 

Suomen Terveystalo Oyj has made its operations more efficient and will in
future focus on customer serving sample taking laboratory operations and
related analysis in its laboratory diagnostics operations. Terveystalo has sold
its central laboratory operations to Medix Laboratoriot Oy. 

Cost efficient clinical analytics is based on the big volume of samples as well
as the versatile offering of special analytics with the help of common
logistics. For Terveystalo, strategic partnership with Finland's largest
private central laboratory Medix Laboratoriot creates the conditions for
further improving operational profitability both in the Occupational Healthcare
segment and Clinics and Hospitals segment. 

Terveystalo estimates that its starting strategic partnership with Medix
Laboratoriot in the area of mass analytics and special sample examination will
amount to approximately EUR 0.5 million annual synergies. 

Terveystalo Group has the most extensive sample taking laboratory network in
Finland. The laboratories that operate in clinic hospitals, clinics and
occupational healthcare centers are not included in this transaction and will
also in the future continue to make independent quick analytics which can be
used, for instance, to rule out severe infections. Less urgent analytics and
the examination of special will in the future be sourced from Medix
Laboratoriot based on a strategic partnership. 

- This business divestment creates the conditions for us to develop cooperation
based on laboratory samples and their examination with the country's leading
private laboratory operator. This involves the strengthening of our sample
taking laboratory operations at customer interface and quick analytics as a
part of the operations and offering services related to these as an outsourcing
service as well. Our extensive nation-wide clinic network offers good
conditions to offer, for instance, sample taking services related to screenings
for municipalities,” says Ilkka Lehto, Director of the Diagnostics segment. 

- This acquisition is a considerable increase to Medix Laboratoriot Oy´s
operating volume. It enables us to develop the efficiency of the logistical
network of the laboratory and that will further improve customer service. The
acquisition is a step in Medix´s long-term strategy to build a network of
independent central laboratory operations. We cooperate with both private and
public partners who produce first-class patient care. Considerable benefits of
scale can be achieved by centralizing analytics and this ultimately benefits

Terveystalo's central laboratory located in Tampere is specialized in
examinations related to clinical chemistry, hematology and microbiology as well
as pathology.
