Flushing Financial Corporation Promotes Barbara Beckmann to Senior Vice President, Director of Operations


LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Feb. 28, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Flushing Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:FFIC) (the "Company"), the parent holding company for Flushing Savings Bank, FSB (the "Bank"), today announced that Barbara Beckmann has been named Senior Vice President, Director of Operations. The announcement was made by John R. Buran, Flushing Financial's President and Chief Executive Officer on behalf of the Company's Board of Directors.

Mr. Buran stated: "From the time that Barbara joined the Bank as Vice President and Operations Manager in 2006, her expertise in project management, operational policy, procedure development, and risk assessment has made a significant contribution towards improving the Bank's overall operational efficiency. Barbara has distinguished herself as a skilled leader whose work ethic and overall focus sets a positive example within the entire organization. Her appointment follows the previously announced retirement of our Operations Director. Barbara's operational expertise and dedication make her the ideal person to fill this important role."

Ms. Beckmann is a banking and auditing professional with over 28 years in the commercial banking industry. Prior to joining the Bank in 2006 as Vice President and Operations Manager, she was a Vice President and Division Operations Manager for The Bank of New York. From 1997 to 2004, she held several management positions at FleetBoston Financial including Vice President, District Operations Manager and New York Risk Management Team Leader. Additionally, she holds the designation of Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. Ms. Beckmann holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems from Hofstra University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Long Island University. She currently resides in Dix Hills, New York with her husband and two children.
