Protea Launches New Proteomics Service

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., March 6, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Protea Biosciences, Inc., a leader in the development of new protein processing technology, today announced its launch of a new service for rapid protein identification. Known as "gelSTAT," the new service provides complete results within five working days, unprecedented turnaround time for protein mass spectrometry analysis.

"Our new gelSTAT service is for researchers who need their Mass Spec data 'STAT' -- within days. This often occurs when a researcher is nearing a project or publication deadline, for example. Our gelSTAT service is for active researchers such as these," stated Stephen Turner, Protea's CEO. "We utilize the very latest mass spectrometers which, when combined with our own advanced protein sample processing techniques, generate the highest quality protein identification data, rapidly and reproducibly."

Protea provides a number of free amenities as part of its gelSTAT service, including gel sample transport kits, destaining reagents, and prepaid sample shipment to the company. Both peptide mass fingerprinting and LC-MALDI analysis is available.

Protea maintains a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facility, featuring BIOiTRAQ MALDI TOF/TOF, and linear trapping quadrupole (LTQ) mass spectrometers, with the mission to generate the very best Mass Spec data from a researcher's valuable protein samples, either in their laboratory or at the company.

Protea is unique as a service provider, because of its leadership in the development of improved sample preparation techniques, which streamline sample preparation and analysis, resulting in minimized sample loss and contamination.

Protea Biosciences, Inc. (www.proteabio.com) develops new products and services for improved protein mass spectrometry data, to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic research laboratories.
