MELBOURNE, Fla., March 6, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ACCY) announced today that its Alternative Construction by Revels, Inc. division in Bradenton, FL, a.k.a. AC by Revels, has received several new residential construction contracts under its master agreements with two separate Florida counties. DeSoto County Disaster Recovery (DCDR) has just awarded three new home contracts under its home replacement program pursuant to losses sustained from Hurricane Charlie in late 2004. Separately, Manatee County just awarded three new State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) contracts to AC by Revels for homes to qualifying applicants under affordable housing guidelines. All six homes will commence construction imminently. "These continuing contract awards are a testament to the cost, quality and feature rich benefits of the Class-1 Fire Rated, ACTech(r) structural insulated panel system," stated Dave Revels, President of AC by Revels. "We are able to provide home buyers with affordable homes that are 'green' and qualify under new building standards such as LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design), Energy Star, Florida Green Building Coalition, BuildSmart and others. The homes are also disaster resistant, healthy, safe and very economical month after month due to very low energy bills."
The Company also announced that Florida Power & Light (NYSE:FPL) BuildSmart Program has certified three recently completed ACTech(r) Panel galvanized steel structural insulated panel homes under FPL's energy conservation-minded program. These homes are designated as affordable and were constructed under funding by DeSoto County Disaster Recovery in Arcadia, Florida, replacing homes destroyed by Category 5, Hurricane Charlie in 2004. The intent of DeSoto County Disaster Recovery is to offer as much value and security as possible under restricted grant budgets. Upon inspection, the DeSoto County area inspector for FPL's BuildSmart Program was visibly taken aback by these homes, the interior spaciousness with their vaulted ceilings, their overall quality and most importantly the attention to energy efficiency in the homes. The BuildSmart Inspector commented, "Comfortable throughout!" Then she added, "Innovative! These homes clearly demonstrate that through the thoughtful utilization of newer building materials, careful attention to overall design and component selection, even the most affordable of homes can achieve 'state of the art' energy efficiencies."
BuildSmart homes are inspected and approved by FPL representatives who are accredited by the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs to rate energy efficiency. While Alternative Construction Technologies advertises energy savings of between 30 - 50%, the company's ACTech(r) Panel System often provides monthly energy savings of up to 70%. FPL certifies that BuildSmart homes constructed by AC by Revels exceeded state energy code requirements, benefitting homeowners and all Floridians through lower energy use and conservation of natural resources. As a result, AC by Revels will be listed on FPL's website and ACTech(r) Panel homes will receive certain promotional signage and recognition. The Company recently announced its Alternative Construction by Revels division has been certified as a participating builder under FPL's continuing BuildSmart program which certifies the finished home as meeting the highest standards of energy conservation.
